Lukas Bergquist to AIK Fotboll is now official as the Swedish left-back signs a contract running until 31 December 2027.
The 25-year-old defender joins from Östers IF, where he made 26 Allsvenskan appearances during the 2025 season. AIK strengthen their left-back position with a player entering what many consider his prime years.
AIK’s Head of Recruitment, Miika Takkula, highlighted Bergquist’s profile as a key factor behind the move.
“He gives us experience in the league and adds an offensive dimension from the left side. His passing, crossing ability and precise left foot are valuable assets, especially on set pieces,” Takkula said.
Bergquist also expressed his excitement after completing the transfer.
“It feels fantastic to join AIK. When I heard about the club’s interest, it felt right immediately. I believe my playing style fits well with how the team wants to play,” he said.
Career path before the AIK transfer
Born in Söderhamn on 28 June 2000, Bergquist began his senior career with Söderhamns FF before establishing himself at Hudiksvalls FF.
A move to Umeå FC in 2022 proved to be a breakthrough period, where he became a consistent starter and attracted attention from higher divisions.
In August 2023, Östers IF secured his signature. He played a key role in Öster’s promotion campaign from Superettan in 2024, contributing two goals and seven assists from left-back.
During the 2025 Allsvenskan season, Bergquist featured regularly despite Öster’s struggles to avoid relegation.
